Support EastSide Greenways

The Connswater Community Greenway has created a 9km linear park through east Belfast, following the course of the Connswater, Knock and Loop Rivers, connecting the open and green spaces. The Greenway has created vibrant, attractive, safe and accessible parkland for leisure, recreation, community events and activities.

What you will be supporting

EastSide Greenways is a regeneration charity whose aim is

“to promote the use and development of green open spaces, parks, rivers and off-road transport routes in east Belfast and to act as a catalyst for the ongoing regeneration or the area.”

We carry out year-round work which includes;

  1. Engaging with Greenway users including residents, school groups, community groups, youth groups and businesses with the aim to encourage ownership of the space and ensure the sustainability of the Greenway.
  2. Engaging with stakeholders in East Belfast and beyond to identify new linkages and potential future development that will enhance connection to and with the Comber and Connswater Community Greenway.
  3. Developing programmes which address social challenges through positive engagement e.g programmes targeted at outdoor learning for children and young people.
  4. Planning and delivering a year-round animation programme to ensure the Greenway is a vibrant place for all who use it e.g Greenway Celebrations, environmental activities and even duck races.
  5. Plan and deliver accessible activity that encourages the use of the Greenway to improves mental and physical health and wellbeing e.g Gentle Walk programme and Pilates in the Park.
  6. Develop programmes that use the Greenway as a catalyst to regenerate East Belfast e.g Legacy Programme, a training and employability programme working with young people aged 16-25 focusing on skills linked to outdoor roles and opportunities.
  7. Working with Belfast City Council to ensure the Greenway is maintained to a high standard through engagement addressing issues such as graffiti and damage.
  8. Working with local stakeholders e.g PSNI, BCC and youth workers to address issues of safety on the Greenway.
  9. Working with a team of volunteers and Greenway Leaders all year round to support the work of Belfast City Council by carrying out low level management and maintenance.

When you support EastSide Greenways, you are supporting the sustainability of the Connswater Community Greenway as a resource for those living in East Belfast.  Your support allows us to continue our work to make sure the Greenway is well maintained, safe, accessible and welcome to all who use it.  It allows us to continue to deliver community engagement programmes and animation in our parks and open spaces which is accessible to all ages, backgrounds and ability levels.
