Victoria Park

Facilities

There is a free car park which can be accessed via a tunnel off Park Avenue. Public toilets are available on site but please note the cost to access toilets is £0.20.

Play parks and pitches

A play park is situated near the Sydenham Bypass pedestrian entrance but can also be easily accessed via the tunnel off Park Avenue (turn right at the car park and follow the path). A bowling green and a cycling and BMX track are located near the play park. Belfast City Council (BCC) have installed public access defibrillators for park users. These can be found on the fence to the bowling green.

The playing fields in the inner island have several soccer pitches which can be booked with BCC by completing this booking form.

Refreshments

Claude, Coffee Box NI is in the car park and serves tea, coffee and traybakes.

Getting there

The park can be accessed via

  1. The Connswater Community Greenway using the underpass off Park Avenue.
  2. A pedestrian entrance from the Sydenham Bypass
  3. Crossing Sam Thompson Bridge from the Airport Road

If you are travelling by bus from Belfast city centre, take Metro bus number 3 and get off at Inverary Drive.

Things to see and do

Due to the park’s rich variety of wildlife, the open water in the park is part of the Belfast Lough ASSI (Area of Special Scientific Interest) project. The team at Orienteering NI have created an Eco Orienteering Trail around the park which offers a fun activity to try out while you are there.

Victoria Park also hosts a 5km parkrun every Saturday at 9.30am and a 2km junior parkrun every Sunday at 9.30am.

Walks

There are two possible circuits of the park, an inner and an outer loop both around the lake. Find out more about the accessibility of these walks from Walk NI.

Check out our Walk This Way Map to find out about the benefits of walking and for information about the route between C.S. Lewis Square and Victoria Park.
