Volunteers

We recognise volunteers as a core part of our team. Without the continued support of a dedicated team of volunteers, we would be unable to deliver the range of events and activities we currently do. Volunteers are, therefore, critical to delivery of change in east Belfast.

We also believe that volunteers gain personal benefits from the experience. Volunteering is a great way to share your enthusiasm, skills and ideas whilst having fun and meeting likeminded people. By volunteering with EastSide Greenways (and EastSide Partnership) you will be making a positive contribution to your community, showcasing east Belfast locally, nationally and internationally and helping to deliver real change that will benefit the whole of the city.

We have a range of volunteer roles to get involved with on the Connswater Community Greenway including; litter picking and clean ups, assisting with walking groups, stewarding at large scale events and helping with small events and activities.

  • To find out more about volunteering with us please read our Volunteer Policy
  • To register your interest as a volunteer please complete the Volunteer Registration Form and return by email to volunteer@eastsidepartnership.com or via post to EastSide Partnership, Avalon House, 278-280 Newtownards Road, Bekfast BT4 1HE. After you have submitted your registration form a member of the team will be in touch with you to complete the registration process which includes signing the Volunteer Agreement

Meet Joyce

Why did you start volunteering with EastSide Greenways?

I started walking on a Wednesday with CCG shortly after retiring. I enjoyed the variety of new walkways and different environments that had been created for those living in East Belfast and beyond. I also met a lot of new people from all walks of life who I now consider to be friends. So when opportunities arose to volunteer on a regular basis I was keen to give back something.

What kind of things do you volunteer at?

I have taken part in a variety of activities – I litter pick regularly, tidy and clean up areas of the Greenway, set up and welcome people to the Urban Markets at C.S Lewis Square and help to steward at festival events. I have just recently started to volunteer at our Wednesday walks by becoming an assistant leader.

What do you enjoy about volunteering with CCG?

I particularly enjoy volunteering in the outdoors. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to leave the Greenway tidy and to engage with others who use it to do the same. It is lovely to see people enjoying the Greenway in different ways – walking, cycling, running.

The Urban Markets have become a popular feature in C.S Lewis Square and they create a great buzz in the area. I enjoy working alongside the other volunteers – we may come from different backgrounds but we all enjoy looking after the greenway.
